A deck for our own home!
This is the very first deck I ever built by myself! I was still in the middle of my carpentry apprenticeship, so building something like this was a big deal to me! To this day it’s my pride and joy! This little deck makes going into our backyard paradise that much more fun and enjoyable!

Building a frame! Look how much bigger it's going to be than the old concrete patio!
The frame is in place, time to build and put up the pergola!

Cutting wood that costs $200+ a piece is a little intimidating at first!
I'm using the same fastening technique where no screws will be visible. It makes for a lovely clean look!

The cross pieces on top of the pergola add a little structural integrity, and they look pretty.
